Bacterial Leaf Spot

I had it. Here’s some documentation on what it looks like. Generally caused by over watering, especially in conjunction with yellow leaves.

To fix this unless you follow the instructions very carefully, DO NOT TRY COPPER FUNGICIDE as you shouldn’t be ingesting excess copper! Of course, copper is a trace mineral your body needs but, you can certainly overdo it and destroy the plant in the process.

  • Remove the affected leaves.
  • If the plant is small enough to dig it out and you can be careful with the roots, put the plant in clean and looser soil like orchid bark or perlite–try to give the roots some oxygen!
  • Spray the roots with a little bit of hydrogen peroxide.
  • Reduce your watering.
  • You can try neem oil and a little bit of soap, rinse with water.
  • Give good airflow to the plant if possible so it dries.
  • If it doesn’t get better quickly, ditch the plant. You don’t want it spreading! You can always grow another plant, but if it’s destroys all your plants you won’t be happy. 🥵

Pasilla de Oaxaca Pepper

Yum. Deep, earthy and smokey flavor with berry undertones. Yes, I hate myself for saying berry undertones.  Similar to a habenero taste which wasn’t expected. Not as mild as anticipated, especially when I’m telling people “this pepper isn’t spicy” before they try it.

Trinidad Perfume Pepper

They look very spicy! However, biting into a fresh one is strange experience–tastes exactly like a Habanero or Scotch Bonnet without the heat!

Very juicy. Not as fruity as I was expecting. It is assumed Aji Dulce are quite similar in taste and heat level? Willeth thou pepper gods trahtne?

Lemon Drop Pepper

Origin: Peru

A bit spicy and a pungent baccatum!  Another Peruvian favorite. Also called the Aji Limon, or Kellu Uchu in Peru.

Similar to the Aji Cito or Aji Pineapple, but, a sharper taste. Very floral and tastes a bit like lemons, especially when cooked. To clear up any confusion relating to similarly spelled pods, check this out.

Farmers Market Jalapeño Pepper

Are you sick of Shakeology? Try a Farmers Market Jalapeño. It is a capsicum annuum that corks like a potato. Corking generally occurs when a pepper stretches to accommodate the rapid growth of the fruit. And this has extreme corking!™ This very rare variety was discovered John Fiedler from ME at a farmers market, hence the name.

“The jalapeno I got from a pepper buddy who found it at a farmers market and gave it that name.” 1

Well, that is pretty straightforward. Like a regular jalapeño, they ripen from green to red. Tastes a bit normcore, crisp and slightly sweeter. Here’s some photo documentation before fully ripe. I will hopefully be trying a ripe one soon.
